13 Starbucks Drinks Will No Longer Be Available in Oregon

Starbucks is retiring some of its “less popular beverages” from its menu this week, which is sad news for Oregonians.

According to Niccol, the Seattle-based coffee chain wants to “get back to Starbucks” by increasing sales and prioritizing customers.

Starbucks has reversed its open-door policy, added new coffeehouse amenities, overhauled the menu, and laid off hundreds of employees under Niccol’s leadership.

Starbucks has announced that it will “optimize” its menus by the end of the fiscal year, resulting in 30% reductions in both beverage and food items.

The Starbucks menu will change this week, as several “less popular” beverages, including several Frappuccinos, are being removed.

Our menu will be simplified to focus on fewer, more popular items executed well. This will allow us to innovate, reduce wait times, improve quality and consistency, and align with our core identity as a coffee company, Starbucks announced in a statement.

A drink was cut for one of three reasons: either it was not commonly purchased, it was complicated to prepare, or it was similar to another beverage on the menu.

The Royal Breakfast Latte, White Hot Chocolate, and several Frappuccino blended beverages are all set to be discontinued.

Starbucks spokesperson Erin Stan revealed the following full list:

Some Starbucks drinks may retire soon, but the coffee chain will bring back “beloved” lavender drinks as well as introduce Iced Cherry Chai and Jalapeno Chicken Pockets.

Starbucks laid off 1,100 corporate workers

Starbucks also announced last week it was laying off 1,100 corporate employees in addition to changing its menu and policies.

In a press release, the company said its senior leaders had begun investigating its global corporate divisions’ role, structure, and size.

As well as not hiring for some open positions, Starbucks has decided not to fill “many hundred” positions. This does not affect baristas or other Starbucks workers.
